07/03/2012 - CAMS Membership

It is with regret that the club has come to the decision not to renew its membership of CAMS especially after all the work Bill Malkoutzis did last year to get a better deal for the club for which we are very grateful. The decision was reached based on support from the membership and the benefits the club gets for its money. The key reasons for this decision are:

1. Bill can no longer devote his time to being the motor sport representative on the committee and no one else has volunteered.

2. There is very little if any interest in motor sport at the moment except for drag racing which is under a different organisation and does not cost the club anything.

3. CAMS had agreed to allow the club to pay the annual fee based on the number of motor sport participants (up to 40) not the number of club members (500). This meant it would cost $240 instead of $840.

What does this mean?  Well, for the majority of members it has no effect.  However if you are using your membership of VWCV as the club for racing you will no longer be registered.
