Getting there and Access
Participants:
Vehicle access from High St side entrance
The grounds has sufficient capacity for roughly 200 cars, access will be on a 1st in, best dressed basis.
Spectators: Pedestrian entrance through the main gate (Corner High St and St Kilda Rd)
By Tram: Stop 27 (Corner St Kilda Rd/High St), tram routes 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, or 67
By car: unlimited street parking on weekends, visitor car park will have limited access
Weather
The event will be run in all weather unless advertised beforehand.
The grounds are set on sandy topsoil with very good drainage, we expect no issues for vehicles in case of wet weather.
There are very limited sheltered areas on the grounds, so bring an umbrella in case of wet weather.
Cost
Participants: $10 per car, (includes all car passengers and driver) to be paid on the day, cash only, no pre-booking available
Spectators: Gold coin donation to Deaf Children Australia All net proceeds will be donated to Deaf Children Australia http://deafchildrenaustralia.org.au/
Voting and Trophies
Voting will be conducted by members of the public. Each spectator and participant will be given a voting car to select the top 5 cars. Voting will close at 12pm and winners announced at 1pm.
There will be no professional judging, only people choice, so tell your friends to come and vote for you! This event is not a typical show and shine competition, it is foremost a gathering of car enthusiasts, trophies are a nice accolade but the public vote may go to imperfect but interesting models!
Eligible cars
Access to showgrounds will be granted to Classic German cars only.This includes Vans, pick ups, people-movers, specialty vehicles but not trucks or motorbikes.
This means cars must have a manufacture date of 1990 or before.
German cars includes any current marques Porsche, Mercedes, VW, BMW, Audi, Opel as well as any defunct marques NSU, Auto Union, Borgwards etc. Cars in all state are invited (as long as they meet the Showground Rules), all shape and form, custom or standard, restored or not, the aim of the event is to showcase the variety of classic German car models so bring yours along!
Showgrounds Rules
Cars park in their designated marque area
All vehicles must be registered
Once parked, vehicles are to remain stationary until 1 pm
No selling, only in-car notices
No distribution of flyers/advertising/promotional materials
No trailers, or car transporters allowed onto show grounds
Running vehicles only
Food and drinks
German style food and drinks will be available for purchase from appointed vendors.
Spectators and participants are welcome to also bring their own food and drinks for their personal consumption.
