The Day of the Volkswagen 2009 - Judging Arrangements
Entry forms and judging criteria for 2009, the main features of which are -
- Split judging forms for modified and standard vehicles
- A bonus points system for standard vehicles to encourage the preservation and display of standard vehicles
- Separate 'Best of Show' trophies for standard and modified vehicles
- Relaxation of restrictions on entering modified vehicles in standard categories. (Vehicles which are of a standard appearance but are, for example, lowered with different wheels, engine and interior components, can now enter a standard category if they choose. This will avoid having to compete against heavily modified big budget vehicles. They may not, however, score bonus points for originality, and as such, presentation and quality of paint, interior etc will have to be of the highest standard).
- Entry forms have been created for modified vehicles with an expansion of judging criteria and categories
- Introduction of a judges' choice award. This may go to a vehicle which does not generate a high score but may be of special interest due to being:
-An historically significant vehicle
-A one owner original car well preserved
-A modified vehicle with an individual concept that is new to the VW scene - Under Body judging has been removed from the judging criteria and has been reserved for future Concourse events
Cars will be judged prior to being parked. Judges will be located in the main car park outside the main entrance to the venue from 9.00am to 11.00am. Judging concludes at 11.00am.
Cars can be detailed prior to judging using the asphalt car park area adjacent to the judging lanes. When a car is ready to be judged the owner will join the end of the judging lane (either standard or custom). When the car has been judged the owner can then park the car inside the venue if there is space otherwise the outside parking areas can be used. It is not necessary to park like vehicles together as we have done in previous years.
We are looking forward to the Day of the Volkswagen being a fun day for all and realise that while many great cars will be on display, not everyone can win. Judges will try to ensure that the judging will be fair for all who enter.
Good luck to all!
