About Our Club

Welcome to the Volkswagen Club of Victoria Inc. We are Australia's oldest and largest Volkswagen Club. Being in existence since 1954, we are one of the oldest Volkswagen Clubs in the world. The aim of the club is to promote the enjoyment and preservation of all models of Volkswagen, including Beetles, both old and new, Kombis and their derivations, Type Three, Karmann Ghias, Golfs, Passats, Polos, etc.

The Club organises and participates in numerous events and activities, including cruises, motor sport, technical days, swap meets and trade shows. Other great events such as a weekend away, as well as interstate and overseas trips are organised.

For those who wish to show their cars, or just want to admire restored and modern cars in pristine condition, there are annual car shows; including 'The Day of the Volkswagen', our biggest show of the year held in November; 'Bug In' which is hosted by Volkswagen clubs Australia wide; and the 'VW Jamboree which is open to the general public; as well as other shows that are restricted to club members.

Our club is about enabling our members to obtain maximum enjoyment from their vehicles in a social atmosphere. The club has no paid officials, only enthusiasts dedicated to furthering the interests of the club and its members. We hope to have the pleasure of your company in the near future. Membership is open to anyone who owns or has an interest in Volkswagens.

Club Meetings

The club holds regular meetings on the forth Tuesday of each month, during which the committee provides detailed information on the business aspects of the club as well as past and future activities and events. These meetings offer members the chance to get together to share their knowledge of, and interest in, their vehicles and to obtain technical advice from our VW mechanic specialists on restorations, maintenance or even customising your vehicles.

Members are also entertained and informed by guest speakers, videos, displays, special interest topics, action nights and other fun activities. If you want to be informed on the latest in Volkswagens, these nights are ones for your diary.

Club Newsletter

The monthly club magazine, Wagensville News, which members receive through the post or email, provides general information, great articles, and a calendar of all upcoming events and activities. Updates on the latest in the world of Volkswagen and features on particular models and historical information are also included. If you're looking to buy or sell a Volkswagen or parts, the magazine also contains a classified section. Members can also take advantage of various discounts listed in the club magazine.

Club Benefits

The VWCV was amongst the first clubs to take advantage of the 'Club Permit' scheme and members are eligible for this scheme offered by Vic Roads as an alternative to full registration for vehicles over twenty-five years old that are used on club events, with an annual (registration) fee of $100. Other savings can be obtained from selected VW repairers and dealers who give approximately 10% discount to club members. Shannon's and the RACV also offer members discounts on motor insurance. For those restoring cars, we have restoration days and swap meets at which parts may be obtained at bargain prices.

Point Score System

The VWCV allows members to obtain points for attending any event. Extra points are given for helping at events, organising events and attending interstate trips such as the 'Bug-In'. At the end of each year, awards are presented to those with the most points. Award categories include Club Champion, Best New Member (who joined in that calendar year), Motor Sport Champion-Speed Event and Motor Sport Champion-Motorkhana.

Club Clothing

The VWCV has a great range of quality clothing and other merchandise including hats, T-shirts, polar fleece tops and waterproof jackets etc, which are competitively priced. These items are available for purchase at club meetings and major events, or by using the club order form provided to new members.
